MGF (Mechano Growth Factor, also known as IGF-1Ec) is a locally acting splice variant of Insulin-like Growth Factor 1 (IGF-1). It is naturally produced by skeletal muscle tissue in response to mechanical strain, muscle damage, or heavy resistance training.
Unlike systemic IGF-1 variants, native MGF acts as a tissue-localized repair signal. It plays a critical role in early-stage muscle regeneration by activating dormant muscle stem cells (satellite cells), promoting their proliferation, and initiating rapid tissue repair following micro-tears and physical exertion.
Key Benefits & Applications
-
Satellite Cell Activation: Directly triggers the activation and division of dormant muscle stem cells, driving myogenesis and muscle fiber regeneration.
-
Localized Muscle Repair: Accelerates recovery specifically in trained or damaged muscle groups following intense resistance workouts or injury.
-
Muscle Hyperplasia: Facilitates the creation of new muscle fibers, contributing to long-term structural tissue expansion rather than temporary swelling.
-
Reduction of Muscle Breakdown: Inhibits catabolic signaling pathways, preserving lean tissue during intense training or caloric deficits.
-
Connective Tissue Support: Aids in the recovery of surrounding connective tissues, micro-tendons, and cellular matrix structure.
